i use lineage os (without gapps or microg). I still have whatsapp. I feel you buddy.
Signal for reasonable people, Matrix bridges for everyone else.
Peoblem is somw people just refuse to switch to Signal
Those would be the “unreasonable” people I referred to. I have generally pushed everyone else to Signal, and leave the remainder behind in mostly abandoned chats that get little attention any more.

I have friends that got it just for me. I also lost some so-called “friends”
The best kinds of friendships are those where one makes demands under threat of ending the friendship.

Not gonna lie, that’s pretty toxic.
It’s not friends I miss though, it’s community groups.
