I really enjoyed piped but it shuting down often nowaday so I use Invidious now
We need a bot to every frontend it will be fun
Converting a youtube link to any alternative front-end is as i remember correctly as easy as changing the youtube.com part to whatever the front-end link is. I think pipedbot should use the open source link redirection service called farside. It take care of automatic redirection when a front-end is momentarily dead and also do some load balancing by redirecting between multiple self-hosted front-ends so as to not Hug a single one to death while others get barely any use.
Ironic, back when Pipeedwas first made it was the alternative that worked most of the time compared to the at the time flimsy Invidious.
I can’t get Piped to work. It’s probably one of my blockers or something but I just get a blank page with an endless turning circle in the middle.
I don’t use any blockers and it doesn’t work for me either. Honestly it might just be getting too much traffic to handle
Same. Open source is great and all, but it has to actually fucking work to be useful.
On Sync for Lemmy you can have piped bots
“invisible”“hidden”. I know this is not something novel, just a PSA for Sync users!*Edited for exact verbiage
why would one want to do that (i have no idea what piped bot is)
Because it’s annoying useless bullshit clogging up comments with links to a service that doesn’t work for shit.
still don’t know what piped bot is but i turned on the setting
Oh, it’s a bot that responds to comments that have a YouTube link. The response contains an alternative link to a nonfunctional service called piped.
link for the curious. There’s some decent music in the thread
Only the funniest one ever: Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Don’t get me wrong, I love Weird Al, but the video for Radioactive is like something from the best fever dream ever.

Piped is garbage. Kill that bot already.
Or block it?
So that others can continue to click on links that just plain don’t work?
It’s broken.
Except it’s not Piped that’s broken, but the instance it links to?
You’re garbage :)
