it’s really funny how different this story reads by the developers than by 404 Media. The PR on the story got traction before they could do anything about it. It seems like no one knows where the quote came from and we now have a flock of whistleblowers saying they don’t recognize any of this. No sources, just a hivemind collectively referencing the same sourceless allegations. Someone successfully brought down Proton.

I don’t pay for Proton services, so I don’t really have any say, I just want to know what’s true here.

If anyone nowadays builds something they can’t just bask in the success, the feel the need to spew ideologies all of a sudden.

I already cancelled a couple of years ago when this same man posted a pro-Trump comment. That seems to have been forgotten about, some people dismissed it as just a comment, I’ve even been downvoted since for trying to warn people, and now look.

This article only speaks about reddit users, how can you be privacy focused and not want to be part of a tech bro company and then use reddit?

Reddit’s terrible privacy practices are what made me leave years ago. Everything you look at and do is sold to Google. Making it a browser fingerprint profiling gold mine.

People on reddit thinking they’re practicing privacy are often asking questions like “I used my friend’s microwave? Does the FBI have my phone number now?” They’re mostly idiots.

No one on Privacy Guides is canceling, or least they’re not public about it. Because of their desire for privacy.

They’ve started collecting red flags like they were the Soviet Union. Welp, this is the last one I’ll watch them pick up, though.

This is why owning your own domain for your email is super nice. You set it up as a catch all, and you can use any address on it, then if you move providers, you keep all those addresses. And you can move providers really easily. It’s literally just a few DNS entries. Being locked in to your email provider while the CEO is going insane is not a fun situation.

I invite you all to jump ship over to Port87, which doesn’t use AI at all, and supports the catch all style natively:

And to think…I ALMOST went through and paid for a subscription a couple of days after I started my migration from Google.
