I thought he explained it clearly before?

He basically makes shitty movies so Hollywood can fund vacations for his friends . The filming locations being the vacation spots.

It also keeps his friends working who aren’t in front of the camera. If he can take a vacation and get a solid payday for a bunch of people, why not?

Doesn’t mean they’re good movies. You could still out an honest effort into the movies even if they’re a ploy to help your friends. At least lay off the racist humor. His entire Native American cast walked off set of his western over the jokes in it.

Every single character in that movie made me physically angry. Which probably proves your point. It wasn’t anger at Adam, it was anger at the character and his stupid shitty life choices

Uncut Gems is anxiety incarnate. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but undeniably a masterpiece.

I’ve never understood gambling addiction other than as a gambling-version of substance abuse. Uncut Gems brought it into sharp, uncomfortable, focus.

Maybe I just have a bad opinion but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed almost all of his movies. Not every movie needs to be a masterpiece. Sometimes it’s nice to just watch something that’s relatable.

The classic ones are still good, happy Gilmore, water boy, Billy madison, I mean come on. That’s nostalgic stuff right there.

I’m probobly more of an art snob than your average person, but I can still consume those movies for sure.

I’ve never seen uncut gems though. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.

I’m really nostalgic for Click. Really the only ones I didn’t like were grownups and grownups 2. That’s just because I’m a hipster and can’t enjoy things everyone else likes.

I really enjoyed Click (as well as most of Sandler’s films) but I’m honestly terrified of rewatching them because I feel like there’s a 50% chance I’ll hate them in the present for (insert really poor taste joke that is either homophobic, transphobic, or ableist). Click especially because I know there is supposedly something rough in it and I’m conflicted on if I want to find my old DVD of the film and possibly ruin the movie.

That said, I now want to watch Uncut Gems because of this post, so maybe I’m doomed to watch Sandler films.

I watched click recently and it definitely did NOT hold up for me. It’s just so over the top dramatic that it waded into cringe for me. Sucks because when I was a teen I thought it was absolutely amazing.

Uncut Gems is a two hour and fifteen minute panic attack imo. Very well written/performed/directed though, it earned its 91 on metacritic

Funny People is easily one of the best movies he has ever been in. I know reviews tend to be mixed but I think he does a really great job in that one.

I have honestly always really enjoyed Click and I kid you not, I’ve never been able to stop myself from crying while watching it. It’s so stupid but so good

50 First Dates was quality. Ok, well, my future wife and I enjoyed it immensely. Besides, got laid after.

Except it’s the opposite. Uncut gems was a terrible movie. I loved almost all of his other movies.
