New peripherals coming out late in a system’s life isn’t unusual.
New first-party peripherals, with less than a year left on the console in question? Idk, the only other one that comes to mind is PS4 back button attachment, and that was also puzzling, then and still.
I went to look for examples and didn’t find as many as I expected. It’s not unheard of but you’re right, it’s notably uncommon.
I’m surprised at how little I am actually interested in the switch 2 but for the prospect of more Metroid prime and Zelda.
