I don’t think I’ve ever seen a place that sold monk fish processed so it kind of shocked me to see this whole monkfish in a supermarket.

It’s not quite “A tasty fish.” yet, so I look at it and think “I should try cooking this.”
Monkfish (called Rape in Spanish) is super appreciated in Spain. It’s sometimes called fake lobster. I’t is very tasty, white boneless meat, and most of the fish can be used to make a great fish stock.
I don’t know where the market is, but that is a pretty good price.
HEB. Really big here in Texas. It’s more “premium” than Walmart at usually comparable prices, though they are more food focused vs. carrying everything.
It’s also eaten in Japan, especially its liver. I’ve only ever seen monkfish sold in Japanese grocery stores.
$6/lb seems like a pretty good deal. I’ve had monkfish before, it’s good stuff.
yeah it’s super meaty and satisfying
I love HEB’s fish market sometimes - they have a higher-end specialty store and they sell some wild shit.
Why are those rainbow trouts black? They look diseased and rotten
