Countries claim things all the time. If you take a look at “official” names of countries you will soon understand self claims are meaningless.

I understand you already know this.

Some people will blindly attribute it to anyone signed up at your instance so don’t give yourself too much credit.

That’s not supposed to be how it works in countries that at least purport to be free. At the very least, we can at least be frustrated at the false advertising.
