Yeah I’ve had the tent I was sleeping in broken by a bear while solo backpacking. I didn’t end up needing to shoot it but I always carry bear spray and a gun when I’m solo camping in bear country.

I moved three Win 10 boxes to linux mint cinnamon this week. Twenty more and I’ll have made good progress on my little nonprofit. But I’m probably at least a decade from being able to go 100% away from windows and Mac’s. Fuck em both.

It’s easy at least. I just got my wife set up with it on a laptop that was running Windows 10 previously. Even the banking app she has been using in Windows has a Ubuntu release that worked pretty easily. She wasn’t even put off by having to use the terminal to install it. I’m calling it a win.

There are tons of nonreligious expressions of it.

Everyone else laughs at you, you might as well get to join in.

I run a nonprofit that owns a few venues with great sound systems, so I deal very closely with a lot of musicians. And man do they all love their Macs. The windows attachment mostly has to with older large donors involved in our accounting. But neither of those things are going to change super quickly. I just keep switching over more machines one by one.

As much as I have no desire to play either of those games, their existence on Windows affects me exactly zero. I’m still a mixed Linux and Windows user (and a couple of Macs I don’t want), I manage a lot of machines between my family and my small nonprofit. I like Linux a lot but I doubt I’ll ever be able to walk away from Apple or Windows completely. But a man can dream! People keep dragging me back in…

I still have a TV exactly like this I keep around for my NES. My N64 is always connected to my main TV.

I had a 32" and it had a flat screen meaning the glass wasn’t curved but it wasn’t thin. It was also higher res than 480p, it was a transitional model before flat screens rolled out. It weighed 160lbs! I was moving it carrying it by myself and had to rest it on my thighs for a few seconds. They were bruised for a week.

Europe hasn’t been an ally of the US in a generation, nor the other way around.

The same regulatory burden falls on small mom and pop locations and makes doing business impossible for anything but billion dollar corps who are only profit-motivated which drives down wages and leads to the current cost of living crisis that most of the west is experiencing.

If you fall down the stairs, that should essentially never be a lawsuit in my opinion unless there was extreme negligence on the part of the property owner. If you burn yourself it should be your fault. All of this unnecessary regulation and liability is what makes everything so unaffordable.
