I’m not even concerned about it replacing jobs, it has proven to be shit at replacing real intelligence, and making the LLM bigger is not a path to AGI. Also my job requires hands, which copilot doesn’t have, so maybe I’m biased.

But I’m concerned about AI being used to spread disinformation and control narratives in favour of the ruling class. I’m concerned about AI datacenters exacerbating climate change. I’m concerned about even further erosion of privacy and mass surveillance. I’m concerned about the inevitable economic crash that will come when they eventually accept that this mess has no path to profitability. I’m concerned about AI psychosis and the way chatbots can seriously mess up a vulnerable mind. I’m concerned about the effects AI will have on children who grow up using it. Probably a few other things too that I’m forgetting about right now.

I know before the war started, I read some coverage from the Guardian of the protests in Iran that was leaning pretty hard into some lurid details and leaving out relevant information that didn’t suit the narrative.

I don’t know if there are different rules for performers, but I am a bit suspicious. Is the guardian trying to drum up consent for restarting the war? I think some skepticism is warranted.

I guess the closest thing to this that’s happening is BRICS and their efforts to do less international trade in dollars. De-dollarization freaks out the US ruling class, so you know it’s a good thing. Just wish it would happen faster.

You don’t have to look at everything in terms of individual responsibility. We can clearly see that the injustices caused by transatlantic slavery, and imperialism more broadly, are very much still here. I think it would be nice to try to remedy this.

Of course, it’s non-binding, and the countries that should probably be paying reparations just happen to have all abstained (except for the rogue USA of course, voting against) so I don’t expect anything will happen. But it’s a nice idea.
