Good luck with that
Good luck with that
It’s called a hosts file
This is a stupid solution though.
You really want a local DNS forwarder. There’s a ton. Dnsmasq being one of the most widely deployed. Your router probably runs it and has the ability to set static DNS entries from DHCP as well.
Great writeup.
TIL: Tumblr is still alive.
What’s the point of it just being WordPress though? That’s…odd.
Drive controller board or the interface. The physical plates inside are likely fine though. You can probably have this recovered for under $500.
Good
Is this shitty AI? This comment makes no sense. If not AI, maybe some key words got mixed up?
I agree as well. No reason to not use it. If there were better ways to build an alternative, one would exist.
It already is. They’ll bleed users until they are irrelevant at this point.
Yup. Pretty dumb.
Well…I mean…that’s kind of bound to happen when you draw 600W into a device that size I suppose. I feel like they’ve had this issue with every *090 card, whether it be cables or otherwise.
That’s why I qualified my comment with “most”.
Corporations gonna corporate so that’s why they don’t want their employees freelancing. Amazon, for example, has contracts that say they own all code created by engineers during their employment, so if one WAS going to freelance, Amazon could lay claim to any work they created, causing immense problems for the engineer. Now, whether or not and where those contracts are enforceable is another question.
The problem with most of these ideas is that they would violate a large majority of developers’ employment contracts. A lot of companies have overly restrictive contracts that prevent employees from freely creating other work without the possibility of legal retribution if found out.
Obviously, check your contracts for these conditions and their enforceability in your locale (some people are forced to sign these in the US but they are not enforceable in most places).
SD cards get thrashed pretty quickly from high I/O usage. Install and setup log2ram to mitigate some of that issue, and put any heavy logging to wherever you set the log2ram mount (/var/log by default). Note this will extend the life of the SD card, but reduce your available RAM while running. Another option is getting an NVME hat or USB adapter to not run on off of SD.
Pretty sure the video mode is just being set wrong. Did you set the run level or something since you mentioned headless? Have you tried to SSH into it?
What happens if you boot the clean image, then reboot it without updating?
The people saying these things are the C-level dipshits getting soft chubs hoping it happens. The reality is that “AI” (especially LLMs) is not a replacement for skilled workers. What it’s mostly used for is a tool to negate high wages for skilled workers, not a true tool to reduce a workforce.
The only people these kinds of tools will ever help are people at the top. The wealthy controlling access to the tools, and the scumbags doing their bidding.
We’ve seen a movie or two about this before, and it never fucking works. Build the time machines first, THEN you can diddle around with your AI weapons systems.
