The president intervened after Yevgeny Prigozhin’s paramilitary group seized the city of Rostov and took positions inside the main military headquarters for southern Russia.
At first, Prigozhin seemed to be almost careful in wording that he wasn’t attacking the Russian government, but only the Ministry of Defense. The implication was that he was welcoming support from Putin’s administration. It seems now that Putin has rejected the offer and it’s simply going to be an all-out war between the government and Wagner.
I kind of figured. If Prigozhin has the ability to take military control of the country, what is Putin going to do then? He would be a Wagner puppet then at most. His only hope to retain power is to defeat Wagner militarily.
