I’m afraid that in the future, making money online will become impossible or risky due to competition. The reason is that algorithms will only promote corporate content, and AI moderation and algorithms will monitor everything. The dead internet theory is no longer a theory, it’s almost a reality.

I hope the machines that kill the internet will post messages warning each other about the danger of humans taking it back and refer to it as live internet theory.

Ahah, perhaps, but corporations are more important than government and reach for the stars, despite the end of civilization, so this is possible.

I swear, the online AI haters think AI is so much cooler than I do.

I get crap for being on the fence about it or for saying it’s useful for some stuff, on interesting on principle. They’re out there being exactly as bullish about its capabilities as the shills who invested retirement money in Open AI and are terrified it’ll all blow away.

Have you SEEN the work that AI puts out? If anyone is getting replaced by something that hallucinates basic, trivial things, then your job wasn’t exactly secure in the first place.

Have you SEEN some of the decisions made by managers and CEOs? Just because your job was actually important doesn’t mean the people who are eliminating it appreciated or were even aware of that fact.

It takes years for a colossus to collapse even after its heart has stopped beating.

It takes even longer for it to realize that it has died.

Oftentimes the crows are picking its bones before it closes its eyes for the final time.

        Oh, for sure.

To be fair, upper tier management jobs are the first ones I think should be replaced by AI. They’re too emotional and needy and paranoid to make rational choices.

if AI can replace you, you either weren’t that important or your company is so profit driven that they just didnt care.

the latter one would’ve gone to shit sooner or later anyway

You using an AI assistant doesn’t train it. It won’t “learn” anything from your use of it.
