Been about three and a half years now and I miss you every day.

Upvoted, but God damn this cut me deep.

Here’s something a little more verbose to tack on, which helped me a lot through a similar time:

Yes, death. Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace. You can help me. You can open for me the portals of death’s house, for love is always with you, and love is stronger than death is.

      - Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost (1887)

So beautiful with its wise look! I feel like some older cats know so much about the world, you can see it in their eyes

Yeah, we’re doing all of the “firsts” at the minute, today we should be getting home from food shopping and it would be the first time not having to get treats out so as we don’t have him rooting through all of the bags to see what he can try and eat.

I don’t want to think of him as a dead cat though, just temporarily not with us.

        Thank you.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I completely understand - when my previous passed away 11 years ago, I kept “seeing” her out of the corner of my eye for months. Even now I just think of her as no longer with me.

Thank you for your comment, I keep seeing other cats or our fluffy cat like door stop, which isnt even the same colour, and thinking its him, as well as seeing him out the corner of my eye. I especially appreciate the fact that we are dealing with this in a similar fashion.

I cried like never before. I’m sure the neighbors could hear it and I don’t care. Hang in there.

This is Coco, and Steve on the left. 18 months ago Steve got run over, when i was sat in the vets waiting i cried then. Fortunately hes ok now. Ive cried three times over Coco. I know how you feel. What happened to your cat?

She was dumped in a shelter, part main coon and all heart. Was like winning the lottery when we rescued her. Unlike her housemates who would scatter and hide when the doorbell rang, she would relish the opportunity to meet and greet another human. Liked to be picked up and held. Had this little hitch in her meow that made it sound like wickety - wow.

I know how you feel. Over 11 years for my previous cat. Got emotional talking about her this week.
