Firstly, if someone on their own has a seizure or an accident with no-one with them “in a late night busy bar environment, it’s an absolute nightmare for us to deal with”.
I’ve been working in a fairly busy bar now for over a decade. The amount of times this has happened is actually none.
He said also “sometimes if you let people in on their own, the reason why they’re on their own is that they’ve got no-one to talk to, so they start mithering other groups”.
That’s… the fucking point of a bar, you twat. You go to meet people. Have your bar staff trained properly to identify problems and cut off patrons before things get out of hand, otherwise fuck off with your meddling.
I’ve dealt with an owner like this at my last job. One incident and suddenly we are doing an overhaul of every policy and changing the menu. It’s like they are looking for things to fuck up. I’m pretty sure mine was because all his kids had moved out and he was looking to exert control over something. I don’t know what this guy’s excuse is.
Must be nice to have so many customers that the joint can make rules like this.
So, being someone who does a lot by myself I would not step in that place anytime as they have said I am a threat.

As a person who only ever goes to bars when part of a group, i would strongly try to steer the group from ever going to a bar that did that.

That if you normally go out single, avoiding a bar because it bans singles is just really not going to impact them. It’s better to complain than threaten them with a good time.
