Students at a teachers’ college dormitory in Russia’s Zabaykalsky Krai found a newborn baby on the floor of a bathroom stall this weekend. The child’s mother, a 17-year-old pupil at the school, had given birth in the bathroom and left the baby wrapped in a jacket. The mother and child were later taken to the hospital, and the two are now together under medical supervision. The baby’s life is not in danger, according to the news outlet People of Baikal. Local officials have reportedly spoken with the mother, the college administration, and her instructors, and they have requested her medical files.

Well, they were adopted by an American couple who, for reasons I do not know, were in eastern Europe during the 90s buying babies. (I have no reason to think that there was any other reason than religious guilt.) This particular baby was sold at a steep discount because it was found on a train half dead, and was not expected to survive.
Flash forward several decades and they are reasonably stable. They are fine physically from what I know. They had some trouble with social interactions and anger management, which might have been related to a difficult start… But I think that was probably their odd religious family and addiction to social media.
Otherwise, they are very smart. They have a college degree in a science field. I haven’t spoken to them in a few years, but I have no reason to think they won’t have a better than average life.
How did this person’s life work out? I would love to hear more about that story.
