Made it my default today. Makes the internet actually usable with a few add-ons some brilliant people have made, for free.
do not
I like how the “don’t dead, open inside” at the end just works.
My friends who don’t use chrome like =)
I always install Firefox on all the work computer kiosks.
I’m doing my part one page visit at a time.
I actually recently switched from brave to Firefox
It’s going pretty nice so far Plus I love the customization open source stuff always has
Look up Firefox CSS customizations. It’s amazing how much you can tailor.
I thought brave ended up having privacy issues? Is this no longer the case? I just recently switched to ff after being a chrome user for so long (went from FF to chrome long ago)
Brave is like Apple. Privacy is just a marketing tactic.
Lol so what I read was correct lol
FF isn’t private out the box either.
People believe what they want.
But, you are correct.
Not necessarily because FF is bad, but because the internet and web standards are often stupid and not privacy friendly.
Webrtc? Great! (But, by default, it leaks your real IP address even with a VPN). WebGL, web GPU, etc. Sketchy not privacy friendly standards
But, again. At least FF allows obfuscation either by fingerprint blocking or masking or other config settings. But… it is tedious. And they change flags and flag names constantly.
FF at least allows you to mod it so you can use it without leaks.
What irks me is all the telemetry. And this new deal they call fog.
And the impossible to get rid of add-ons I never asked for. No, I don’t want screenshots built in. Nor amazon, or google, or eBay, or Normandy or opt out studies
After all the tweaks I make manually (arkenfox user.js is nice, too) it ends up well over a hundred settings to get what I want functionality and privacy wise.
And, yet, it is still the absolute best of the browsers.
(Tor, mull, and librefox as well)
Its so much better, especially if you aren’t already lost in Google’s sauce.
I’m an Android user, but luckily I never really got lost in google’s sauce.
I’m pretty sure I used Chrome early on in my Android days but not for very long.
Currently, and for the foreseeable future, my primary browser on Android is Firefox Nightly and I do run firefox on all my computers (I do use Linux).
Nowadays i use cromite on android and firefox on desktop
there are also those annoying nerds who think they’re cool cause they use opera GX that make me cringe so badly…
Saw my first youtube ad in years on pc today… Dark times.
Vouch for Waterfox tbh, really great
My friends have gotten so used to me talking about Firefox that whenever they complain about Chrome they immediately say “Don’t” when I start typing
or librrwolf
Or mull - made by mullvad, the VPN guys. It has all the tor privacy without the tor network and gets updates because, unlike tor, it’s not based on the ESR.
as someone who used firefox for the last 20 years or more, I just switched to edge about 6 months ago and I’ve been liking it.
Sir you have entered FOSS space, please state your intents
Just as a note: edge can be hardened to a point (clear almost all data on closing) where it’s better than Firefox if you are interested in security over privacy or ease of use. If you are already bound to windows, installing Firefox offers marginal privacy in exchange for more attack surface.
But why even bother? If you’re privacy conscious and still insist on a chromium based browser just use Brave.
Use things that respect your privacy by default. Otherwise you have to be in the habit of actively opting out whenever new updates or features are added and anybody who would be that diligent about it is probably already using Firefox or Brave anyway.
Can you guys just allow casual people to interact with this website? Holy shit.
/s for you
Edge is entirely as privacy violating as chrome
It’s also chrome, just working for another company.
