As Google finally rolls out its official desktop mode, it is time to stop thinking of your phone as just a mobile device and start seeing it as the only computer brain you actually need.
In the mobile space I think that Qualcomm actually has the lead, the elite 8 is pretty powerful. Desktop wise apple leads, but I think Qualcomm isn’t too far off, I think the biggest issue is software support.
When you’re done laughing, read some benchmarks. They absolutely have. Used to be they were a generation or two behind. Now it’s a lot closer. And doesn’t really matter all that much, outside of high-end gaming.

Like you said, benchmarks don’t mean anything these days. I’ll stop laughing when anyone gets close to Apple’s efficiency and single core performance.
