This news has been around for months yet I still cannot understand why they are doing this. They can’t actually be thinking that anybody would want to go to tenor.com and look at gifs right???
It’s like if my ISP decided I needed to drive to a local office in town to pick up my data packets. WTF!?
Discord already moved to using Klipy since early Spring or so. It’s ok, I guess.
Has it? My Discord channel shows me a Tenor gif I posted just yesterday that I shared using the native search.
If they are using Klipy, it must be a hybrid solution at the moment.
When I hit the Gif button on Discord it says “search Klipy”. It has for about 4 months now.
It does for me now as well. But I’ve got gifs shared in my channel on 6/28 and 6/29 with the URL still hosted on Tenor, which I know came from the built-in gif browser, so it may not have been applied to all clients at the same time. Could have been in an A/B state, or maybe different app versions between OS types.

When I post gifs I post them as gifs, not as links. I am not affected.
And: I disabled link preview in Discord. I’ve never seen your tenors, I just guessed them by looking at the url. ^^

No, most people haven’t heard of it, but you’ve probably used it because it used to be integrated into a lot of apps that everyone has heard of.
Teams uses Tenor. It’s how I send gifs at work. RIP to me annoying my coworkers with bongo cat.
