I mean the idea that a democracy can vote to end democracy is a pretty well understood problem with democracy. So is the idea that the ability to enforce statute is conditional on the willingness to enforce it. In reality it really boils down to adding structural complexity to the monopoly on violence, but it’s fundamentally the same social contract as a stop sign.
