I don’t know that the next person will be more of the same. It depends on how this all goes down. The last time something similar happened in Russia they ended up replacing an empire with the Soviet Union, which was certainly different.
The last Emperor was fighting a perpetual invasion, and the people eventually had enough and overthrew them. It’s very similar to today, with the only difference being that the leader isn’t an emperor by title, as much as he wants to be one.
Yeah, that was a revolution. Today, the rich maintain control of the country. The people are largely cowed, and anyone who shows the slightest protest is arrested.
If the people are secretly planning a revolution, I’d be very surprised.

It’s not like the empire didn’t try to suppress revolutionaries either. Modern influence and control might be more effective though.
