Such as using a platform like fiverr for example, is it worth trying or should i stay away? I want to do basic tasks but i dont have a anything yet to showcase. So it may be a bad idea but at the same time i want/need money. I know i could get a job but im in a point in life where i feel i am unable to.

but who am to say…

Judging by the amount of times people said to me “why don’t you just become a freelancer?”, it must be very easy, but I don’t know where to find people who pay for unskilled work, so if you do, go for it

I went from an employee to self-employed and I didn’t exactly have prior work experience in that particular field (renovation work) but my previous job was kind of related (plumbing).

I shared like 2000 flyers to the houses near me over the first year but had to stop since I’m already over-booked and can’t do more without hiring employees, which I’m not going to do.

It’s not exactly easy but it’s not exceedingly hard either. If it’s something you literally can’t stop thinking about then that’s a good sign. Someone who does it just for money has to work so much harder than someone who has a passion for it - and people notice.

This is really the best way. Get into house fixing. Most people dont have the tools or time for it and contractors mostly suck ass. If youre a nice person who actually calls me back I’ll probably hire you for work.

Exactly. The bar is incredibly low. Standing out to your advantage has never been easier.

Totally! Especially if your website is clear and easy to read and has no slop, I’ll definitely hire you. Bonus if its pure HTML.

Makes me want to start a contracting business for easy stuff like dishwasher installs etc…

That’s what mine essentially is. I did that myself as well with no past experience and it shows. I’m put off by small businesses with those ultra fancy websites that technically look good but are difficult to navigate and frankly don’t inspire a huge amount of trust. I’m a guy and a van - not a multimillion corporation and I want the website to reflect that as well.

It has a picture of me and some background about what I’m up to and why. There’s pictures of my previous work for reference, a list of examples of work that I do and also what I don’t do, and there’s my pricing and contact information as well as a contact form. That’s it. No fancy animations or graphics. Just labeled buttons and pages with clearly laid out information and pictures.

I even designed my own logo.

Man why can’t everyone be like you. Thats exactly how it should be !! How have so many lost the plot in the last 15 years.

Good luck in your endeavors 🙂
