See the linked page for information about how it works, limitations, etc. and I’ll of course answer any questions below!
As I have stated in the release section, this software is alpha so please don’t be afraid to report bugs!
Releases are here: https://github.com/CMahaff/lasim/releases
Right now the program only supports Lemmy BE 0.18.1-rc9, but new releases will try to support new versions as they are released. The Lemmy API is changing a ton right now, but I’ll try to keep up.
Note: Supports 0.18.1-rc9+ - I have tested it with rc9, rc10, and the final release of 0.18.1.
timely! Thanks for posting this here!
Hmmm… it somehow freezes when downloading the setting and subscriptions on one of my accounts… I’ll let it run over night, see if it’s just something related to maybe not all comms being online/present.
That’s odd! It should take only a few seconds at most - downloading is only like 2 API calls.
Do you follow any “odd” communities, like something from kbin or mastodon or something?
And do you mind sharing the instance? I know we ran into an issue where lemmy.ml was applying some extra filtering and denying some connections, some kind of anti-bot measure - could be a similar story here.
No, it’s my NSFW account on lemmy.fmhy.ml. Though, it’s weird, not all of the comms seem to be in alphabetical order. Some of them are, but then the sorting stops (ends with z) and they just start all over again, like from a, b, c, etc. (after z). Might be something messed up in the db.
You need a link to that account? IDK if you can see which communities I’m following just from the link.
So I made an account on that instance and was able to download and upload to it without issue from my end (using LASIM 0.1.1).
So then I can only think it was some kind of intermittent issue or it’s something specific about the communities on your account specifically. And unfortunately I cannot see that list of communities on your profile.
Let me know if the issue persists and you want to try debugging it further.
OK, I’ll try today to download the profile as well, see if it was a one time thing.
Thanks for the info - I’ll try tonight and see if I run into similar issues!
