I was used to seeing them in Key West and in the suburban neighborhoods of Miami, but downtown was a bit of a shock, especially outside of a chicken place 😂

Dude Kawaii has more chickens and cats sitting next to each other on the roadside than I thought possible. BIG fat chickens that look like they’ve been streetfighting most of their lives, and big cats that give two fucks about 7lbs of yardbird sitting feet away.

We fucked that entire ecosystem right up.

Literally just got woken up by 2 of the 6 stay cats I’ve adopted and had fixed because the demand to go out, and can’t go back to sleep because the the chorus of roosters through the valley.

I can hear at least 15 as I type this.

Yeah the ecosystem fucked. I just finished a book (textbook actually) about the biology and ecology of Hawaii.

Like holy shit nothing you’ve actually scene, unless you’ve gone deep into the high rainforest, is native. There is almost nothing native about the entirety of plant and animal species probably 95% of people interact with.

There’s a lot of wild chickens in a particular neighborhood of Tampa, Florida called Ybor too!
