we encountered this for the first time over the weekend.
Hitting “play” on a service I pay for, and then seeing 50 seconds of unrelated ads was unbelievably jarring.
I’ll admit/concede that we aren’t dropping Prime, we use too much of it all around. But that night? I immediately fired up the Ol’ Blackbeard and downloaded the rest of the season. Screw that noise.
Same, bought a NUC and set up a servarr+jellyseerr+jellyfin over the weekend. It was much simpler than anticipated, and the experience is so much better than any streaming service. The NUC will pay for itself within a year once I cancel all these fucking subscriptions.
They fucked up music earlier in the year as well, because apparently listening to tracks in the same order the artist intended is a premium only feature.
Went to Spotify for that. Went to Jellyfin for video.
I just canceled Amazon prime. The ad insert into prime video was the last straw.

I cancelled 6 months ago. It just ran out yesterday.
Now I have to put $35 of physical items in my cart for free shipping. Oh no! what ever will I do!?
Worst case scenario – order two , return one.
It used to be just 25$ till recently. Also, if you are just getting common household goods, walmart might give you free shipping(not sure on locale)
I’ve been meaning to cancel for a while but luckily remembered right before the renewal.
Yep. It’s so easy spending $35 and waiting just a little extra for packages to arrive.
Ads in toddler shows! I couldn’t believe it when I saw the first one. What an unethical business model.
I’m glad that I really only use Prime for their shipping and shopping perks.

Easiest cancel I ever did.
