Wait till the EU battery replacement law kicks in. Kind of no need to upgrade then unless you crack the screen.
Difference between my Samsung s9+ and Samsung s21 is minimal.
I really feel like the new rule regarding batteries will mean manufacturers locking down the bootloader.
They are already terrible with software updates, but you can get by with custom ROMs. The official software also usually is got background services that are designed to limit performance.
Bur if they lock the bootloader… Your battery could be great, but all your apps could stop working because your OS is outdated.
Planned obsolescence should really be illegal. No matter what form it takes
I mean yea, who really needs to buy a phone every two years now?
I’m just curious about the “growth” of the high-end market, since the phones are getting more expensive, and it’s not like they’re offering that much more too. Is this just a case of blind consumerism?
Foldables, maybe?
They have no choice but to “grow”, since they are so new.
Sitting here ready and waiting to buy the next pixel with a headphone jack. Or better yet, a new blackberry. I’m not even sure which is less likely nowadays…
I bought a blackberry off ebay to use as an alarm a little while ago. I had never used one before and was like “wow this is really nice to use.” too bad I never got a chance to use it as anything else.
I used to have a blackberry, it was awesome. Right before touch screen really hit, had a track ball that would get dirty. Beyond that it was the best phone i had. When from that to a s3 then s7 then s9 and now s21.
One thing i noticed is i had to buy a buy a new phone more and more frequently. I went through two s9s and my s21 is so bad i need a new phone but hate the idea.
I thought the same till I actually brought myself a decent pair of Bluetooth headphones with a chargable case. Never had a problem with battery life and much easier with no wires.
I did get a cheap gbp 2.00, usb-c to 3.5mm audio adaptor just in case but never used it yet.
I only replaced my Pixel 3 once the battery no longer lasted a day. I was looking into replacing the battery myself, but it seemed a bit expensive, iFixit’s complete kit was out of stock, security updates had already finished, so I just decided on a new phone.
I replaced it with a Pixel 6 off the used market and it’s been treating me well.
It seems like we’re genuinely at the ceiling for this stuff which might actually be a huge benefit and slow down the horrendous e-waste cycle we’ve perpetuated.
