Hy,

Wich free app do you use for gps that respect pricacy and do not track you?

I tested magic earth and in the 1st simulation was in a forbidden road - not precised.

Thanks.

I can’t be the only one who is loving all the info and app sharing in the fediverse to get big tech’s grips off of us. I love all the great recommendations for FOSS and privacy products. .

I use Apple Maps. In theory, it’s not tracking me. I guess I have no way to prove that, but at least they’re on the record saying they anonymize the data from it and don’t correlate routes to people.

Edit: here is some more info, took a second to find the link.

Maybe the app doesn’t but your phone does lol. Literally everything you do whether it’s Apple or Android.

The idea is to reduce tracking. I still want to be plygged in the grid 😀

OsmAnd+ on F-Droid. It uses OpenStreetMap and it runs completely offline. It is also available in Google Play Store, but there it costs a fee.

The version without the + is limited in it’s function. It’s just the trial version.

I use organic maps. Though I don’t know how good the routing is. I tended to get traditional Garmin’s and not hook them up to the Internet, and that seemed pretty safe, as they don’t broadcast anything.

Seems good. But the same not precise problem. Seems to be an openstreetmaps problem.

Another problem is that portuguese sound indication is only in brazilien, even when I choose pt and not br.
