Just like open collective. The ability to give a bit to each would help keep Lemmy alive with no ads.

Humble bundle does the same. This will help people that don’t know how to support their servers and devs of Lemmy.

You do realize theres hundreds of instance admins? Theres no way for the dev to collaborate with each one. Youre better off looking to your favorite instances and donating to them directly.

This isnt the same as a humble bundle deal, where they have software licenses to sell and contracts with the publishers/devs.

I’m not sure how that would work with those being two separate sets of developers + instance admins. I don’t even think you can do instance admins + Lemmy devs in one place.

Sorry I’m not sure what you’re saying. There’s 3 or more distinct groups here:

        1. Lemmy devs, responsible for Lemmy itself + they run lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml
        2. Server admins, responsible for whatever instance you’re browsing from and whatever instance the post is on (I use lemmy.dbzer0.com, you’re on sh.itjust.works, these are two different admins/teams of admins)
        3. App devs, in Sync’s case ljdawson

Are you looking for a single donation to go to all of these groups?

          I think OP meant 2 and 3.

Personally I’m waiting for my instance admins to set up some donation channel to make sure it keeps going. IMO it’s preferable to donate separately, otherwise you have yet another intermediary trying to take a slice of the pie.
