  • The main issue with YouTube premium is the price, I can’t imagine that they’re making anywhere near $14 a month from showing me ads that I never click on. I’d love to see a breakdown, including how much is subsiding free users, how much is going to creators, and how much is going into the pockets of shareholders.

I think like most if not all of the people I know would easily pay $5 dollars for premium

  • I can’t help but notice that she isn’t disagreeing with the translation. Just that the intention is somewhat disguised behind cultural barriers.

The infamous “I want to expand my circle and hire more people, get licked until can’t get an erection.” she describes as “crude” meaning it isn’t a completely off base translation (which honestly surprised me). It’s clear she has a bias, and is upfront about it, so I think she’s being more forgiving than a Western audience would be if a Western dev said similarly crude things.

I think a lot of the context is helpful, particularly about Chinese devs using female players as part of their own marketing. So “pandering to female players” is more directly associated with exploiting female players.

Clearly the studio has some statements the West would consider iffy, even with cultural context in mind. So the accusations of sexism don’t seem as cut and dry as either side is making it out to be

  • I think you’re taking it too literally, the books have many statements that are contradictory. It’s about the general message. In general, the bible is very pro-children, it has passages where God literally tells people he made them in the womb himself. And funnily enough, modern highly Christian nations have these ideals, and takes them to extremes.

The Qur’an has a lot of violent punishment, which is then in a lot of cases moderated in modern Islamic countries. Saudi Arabia for example, may only cut off one hand for thievery, or none if the crime is light enough. It sets precedent and normalises these actions
