I agree, was just curious thank you.

Is it any different from the existing vegan community?
Other responses are kind of fence-sitting so I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say yeah it’s poor taste, but forgiveable. I think it just boils down to why would you use a skin tone that’s not yours? Some people like having an emoji that’s they share with others of their color, so why intrude on that?
White dude here. I use the white skin emojis, but honestly I think it’s just because I see my black and brown friends use their skin tones as a rule, and I feel like using the yellow tone is a bit weird when others are using the skin tone customization.
I’m not ashamed of my skin color or anything and the phone remembers my last tone selection so I don’t really see a reason to not use it.
All and probably most Local feeds are negative. If you’re looking for a more positive experience, you should change the way you interact with Lemmy and the Fediverse.
First, you should investigate different instances (or consider hosting your own) and find one that sounds like it has a better vibe. Then use the Local feeds instead of All.
Second, look for better communities. Many people complain about there being different iterations of communities but this is where that’s a strength of Lemmy’s structure. If the news community you’re frequenting is too full of downers, then look into different news communities. Or- again- if you’re feeling up to it, make your own and advertise it as a light-hearted community, then moderate it as such.
I don’t know what you’re referencing, sorry if im a bit dense haha
Absolutely, and it’s infuriating. The only thing that can stand between criminals and sociopaths is the vote, and a too much of the vote is controlled by morons.
Yes, and it’s important that felons be able to run for president. Were that not the case, a corrupt enough system could just disqualify anyone that would seek to oust it.
Need to make the same communities on different instances to offer alternatives with different mods.
Heck yeah I’ve been meaning to find some more weird west media.
Just wanna point out to the thread in general that this isn’t just surveying a bunch of people asking “on a scale of 1-10 how happy are you?”
The World Happiness Report uses six factors as predictors of life evaluation: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and corruption.
Edit: the video linked actually doesn’t make much mention of the survey mentioned in the headline.

Because we are better than most countries by these metrics
I’m not really in those circles but I feel like the timeline is wrong here. I don’t think young men see these figures, then venture out parroting them and crash their metaphorical bicycle. I think the bicycle crash is what makes them seek out that content. Maybe that’s how it’s working with very young men who are just now starting to talk to girls, idk.
The problem from where I stand is that conventional advice on how to get attention from women doesn’t work like it used to. Young men are entering the world and finding that they’re just not as attractive as their mothers have been telling them their whole life, and setting yourself up to have a decent income isn’t the selling point that the older generation told us it was.
So you either focus on other areas of your life and maybe you happen into some kind of relationship, or you look to adapt to this world of dating apps and hook-ups and you probably end up unsatisfied for a number of reasons, and that’s when someone turns to the manosphere.
You’re excited about this? Like it’s a competition you want women to win?
Kind of Alex Jones-y I thought
In Sesotho, “how are you?” is “ho joang?” which gets shortened to “hj”
