I see you are well versed in bird law.

Can someone fill me in because I don’t want to watch the video. I remember a few years ago, people were really concerned for his mental and physical health because of his binge eating and deteriorating relationships. Did he lose the weight and also get excess skin removal surgery? Cause it looks that way from the photo. How long ago was he morbidly obese?
Can you explain this one?
What an absolutely horrific change in her day to day life over the course of a few short weeks. I hope she recovers quickly, although I hear that burn recovery is brutal and that her boyfriend goes to prison forever for such a malicious act.
Was going to say with all of the episode of Dr. Who, it had to be in one of them.
This meme just makes me miss Jim Can’t Swim videos on youtube.
The cover photo they used makes it look like he haasaged 10 years in the last few weeks. Stumbling from embarassing screw up to screw up on the world stage when most people are already against you will really wreck your youthful demeanor.
Good. He deserves this shit.
Can someone explain to me the difference from Control Panel to Settings? It seems like more of a name change and of course, the UI will be different, but won’t it effectively be a hub to control your personal settings just like control panel?
Well, this guy is just fantastic. Everything you want in a museum curator. Just watched some other videos with him playing ancient board games, and he is such a delight.
The Devil in the White City - would love to see the Chicago Worlds Fair brought to life in all it’s splendor, and to be directly contrasted with the horror that was HH Holmes murder castle. The book brought that history to life so vividly, and I feel like mini series with great casting would do incredibly well.
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle - mysteries and whodunnits are popular again (thank god) and this one has such an interesting premise. When I first read it I was convinced it would be a great video game. But a movie would also be a hit.
Something Wicked this way Comes - not sure if this has ever been adapted, but I’ve never seen it. The book is so atmospheric and has such a rich cast of characters. We haven’t had a movie that really celebrates the moodiness of autumn in a while.
The Blue Grotto in Capri, or maybe some of the less famous grottos on the Mediterranean Coast. There is something so terrifying about being surrounded by rock formations, I’m not typically a claustrophobic person, but felt a visceral fear of being under that much rock with waves moving in and out of the cave. And yet the grotto is gorgeous because of the reflection of the light. The endless dark of the cave is lit by the most brilliant blue of the water.
I like to imagine the person who first discovers something like that, having to overcome the fear of the unknown and be rewarded with the best mother nature has to offer.
iNaturalist, as far as I know it is free or at least I have the free version and haven’t been limited in the number of IDs I can request. They also have a feature where the IDs can be verified by other users to get more specific than the automated photo identification. And let me tell you, there are some plant/bug nerds that browse the app!
I wish this would happen to me, it seems like every time I look away the seeds of some invasive vine are taking root in my yard. I’ve tried planting natives, but for me at least they have taken some work to cultivate and maintain despite trying to find natives that are appropriate for my soil and sun situation. I’m hoping every year the natives will be able to strengthen and outcompete the invasives, but for now I am stuck digging up roots and tearing down whatever non natives I find.
I’ve spent the past few summers desperately trying to claw my lawn back from invasives. When we first bought our house I didn’t want to remove anything until after a year to see what everything was, because I knew nothing about plants. I planted some natives in bare locations, but didn’t realize just how crazy some of the vines and invasive species would be in claiming space.
I have an app on my phone for identifying plants. A few years ago, every ID said invasive from Asia or Europe. I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to see some native grasses and wildflowers finally taking hold in the areas that used to be Japanese Honeysuckle or pokeweed. But it was backbreaking, miserable work and I commend anyone who is fighting this fight.
They could have crafted a serviceable plot out of what the games provided…if they cared. It would never be The Last of Us, but the bar is set so low for things now. I would be perfectly fine with well written movies with B list actors. But that’s the problem with these movies, no one cares enough, and all the money gets poured into getting recognizable actors to play parts that they aren’t suited for.
Agreed, the political posts are inevitable with a big election looming unless you filter a lot of subs you are stuck seeing the same ones. And lemmy doesn’t have enough content to turn over so you wind up seeing the same posts from 2 days ago with only 3 comments.
I figure the best thing to do is comment on anything I can and try to engage more people. I was such a lurker on Reddit, but that’s not helpful here.
They should absolutely recast Army Hammer with someone else and make another movie. The Man from UNCLE had too much going for it to fall into obscurity because just one of it’s stars was a cannibal.
I believe there was a study for the highways outside of Washington DC that had toll lanes. The fees were variable and higher during rush hour. This effectively was a small fee for the wealthy to pay in order to get to work on time and left everyone else to sit in traffic. As far as I know, the lanes still exist, but there is no variable charge.
I haven’t watched that in years! I’d almost forgotten how much young me liked it and now older me sees more wisdom in it.
