The single largest reason we’ve been living with inflation for 6 years now is this assclown getting interest rates to near zero in his last term. It’s also why homes are completely out of reach now and if he gets the rates back down, homes will be “back in reach” in the name of debt slavery only and what follows will be even worse, which will get blamed on the next Democrat in office.

Meh, I don’t think it could work this way. Infinite time without constant novel experience would just devolve into incomprehensible white noise in both action and reaction. Also, you can “install” things like Discord into a webapp and when you launch it it looks and behaves just like regular old discord, but never makes you wait through those annoying installation screens.

So the official line is that this whole deal is about stopping the pipeline for oil from Venezuela to Russia and Iran. Is that actually legitimate? I’d think Russia and Iran have enough domestic oil for their own use that they wouldn’t have to bother with Venezuela’s heavy sour. Are they just taking the opportunity to seize any ship that wanders into the Western hemisphere that could be used to illicitly transport oil exports from these countries maybe? If so, that could actually hurt Putin’s interests - I gotta figure TACO would come into play on a move like that.

I’m kind of an in-the-middle tan-mode sort myself. I cut my teeth on UltraEdit back in the day and its default color scheme (circa 2001) is still the scheme I use today, though I’ve moved wholly to FOSS. I can’t do dark, I can’t read the code properly. I can’t do bright white, it’s too stressful.
Every second I’m near her, its just belittling.
I hope you find your way clear. There is a way, you just have to find it. Take it slow. Determination and focus on a goal can help alleviate depression. This is an excellent step, asking about on the 'net. Everyone has value. Your mom is blinded to the fact (and it is certain) that she too was what we once all were, young, naive and full of unrealized potential. So she found her potential and realized it, but she forgot about it ever being unrealized. And that is on her, not on you. She is not better than you because your potential is as yet unrealized, and she’s actively damaging your potential by pretending she is. Ignore it, stay focused and find your way.
Edit: and if you can find professional help that you trust, good. Depression is not just in the mind, it can be physiological as well. You may need to find out, but this will be part of your journey.
I think the real problem is a government structure that lends itself to being captured by monied interests. The problem of capitalism chasing the money is only a problem because we have a government unable to properly tax the wealthy to ensure no one can amass the kind of wealth that makes it possible to capture the government.

Same here, I got hired as a “webmaster” at a place that had been using some Yahoo web services for their website and they had dialup Internet accounts for everybody in the office. For the same money I got them access to a fractional T1 and set up a server on an old 486 gathering dust in the back room. We served up their webpages from in-house. They thought I was a god, I was just a big fat resume-padded liar who stayed up reading Usenet all night lol. Those were the days and I’ll never forget that distro:
