I’m kind of an in-the-middle tan-mode sort myself. I cut my teeth on UltraEdit back in the day and its default color scheme (circa 2001) is still the scheme I use today, though I’ve moved wholly to FOSS. I can’t do dark, I can’t read the code properly. I can’t do bright white, it’s too stressful.

Edit: and if you can find professional help that you trust, good. Depression is not just in the mind, it can be physiological as well. You may need to find out, but this will be part of your journey.

I think the real problem is a government structure that lends itself to being captured by monied interests. The problem of capitalism chasing the money is only a problem because we have a government unable to properly tax the wealthy to ensure no one can amass the kind of wealth that makes it possible to capture the government.

Same here, I got hired as a “webmaster” at a place that had been using some Yahoo web services for their website and they had dialup Internet accounts for everybody in the office. For the same money I got them access to a fractional T1 and set up a server on an old 486 gathering dust in the back room. We served up their webpages from in-house. They thought I was a god, I was just a big fat resume-padded liar who stayed up reading Usenet all night lol. Those were the days and I’ll never forget that distro:

Hey I just did it! I completed my migration today. The only reason I keep a desktop around at all is for gaming and I’ve been locked into Windows for years because of it, but no more. Steam is a given, but I’m running games off Epic and Gog through Heroic and standalone games using Lutris (ESO and Elite Dangerous so far). Not a single problem with any of them.

Mint is great, the only complaints I have are minor and I can easily deal with them. Like when you launch things, you don’t always get a cursor animation to tell you you successfully set something in motion and you just have to wait for the window to pop up. That kind of thing.
