Pretty naive to think someone isn’t doing it already, but as someone else said you don’t need to shutdown for it. Infact it is worse if you shut down as you don’t get new data.

I think that is just an effect of growing, or at least not shrinking and sticking around. There is ni point in spaming somewhere where there are no active users.
It should be doable to so some audio analysis of the episodes. They “always” (I am sure some forget every now and then), have an outro and intro around the ad block. With a clearly defined jingle per podcast. You should be able to make a program that analyses the audio and listens for that block and cuts it out for you.
Or if you want some basic configuration, like user management and repo creation. Use something lightweight like gitolite
One problem with that use case is that you as the creator doesn’t control where (screen position) and how (font face, size, etc) the subtitles are rendered. The browser and user control that, so I doubt they would be widely used for meme because of this.
However, I do agree that it would be nice to have support for it for other reasons.
You fool! The en passant odds are through the roof!
Well it makes sense if you think about it.
You invest a million dollar in 100 companies, 95 fail, 4 makes 10 million each. If the last one hits at least 60 million you are even, anything above is pure profit. Basically just throwing shit at the wall and see what sticks.
Personally I think mandatory voting is a bad idea. It will not make then suddenly care, they will just vote for lolrolfcopter party.
The US does a lot of bad things around voting, but it being on a workday is probably the biggest hurdle. Most other countries have it on a weekend or holiday. That means that most people can go vote and not have to chose between potentially getting fired and vote. Which, to no surprise mostly affects lower income voters.
Also combined with the witch hunt on mail in voting makes it very hard for lower income people to vote. Which is by design.
Or even worse, password field doesn’t work with paste.
It says “could” not “will”, so they will just never implement that part.
The funny thing is that the cookie warning only applies to tracking cookies, for stuff like session cookies you do not need it.
But it is always easier to just nag the user too many times than to risk something, so everyone just adds the warning anyway.
Also, IANAL so don’t trust me!
Re-binding caps lock is such a nice thing. I am a Perl programmer (yes, really), though not in emacs (vim all the way!)
I changed caps locks to $ and @ with shift decades ago. Especially since in my native layout they are awkward to reach.
The problem is that your whole family has to be not dumb enough.
Also the storage is the cost for the user, and google in the case of play store. So the developers have no incentive to reduce the size.
Yeah, that is just how youtube works. You as an individual can say you don’t like annoying thumbnails and titles, but they 100% work. And channels that don’t use them are just not getting as many viewers.
I just started skipping the first 1-2 pages of all ads, they usually just talk about what a fantastic company they are, etc. Just noise that no one is interested in, not even the ones lying about it.
At the end after all the fluff there is usually a description of what you are supposed to know and do. And if there isn’t, well I am not wasting my time with them.
Also, describing salary range seems very different in different countries
More often than not that is corporate speak for “we fired the old team and replaced them with cheaper workers. And we didn’t want to pay them to learn the old code/they tried but failed, so we are dumping features now”
Missed to change the legend to “North Canada” or just simply “Canada”
Has Golang fizzled? It has struck me as too primitive, but basically on the right track.
My biggest issue with Golang by far is the close tie to Google. They are not our friendly innovator, time and time again they make decisions that will help them earn more ad money, and nothing else. And they have a lobg history of releasing something and then never fix the issues with it, and then more or less abandon it.
Other than that there are afaik some other issues with go, I’m not an expert but from what I hear the GC is quite aggressive and you can’t tell it to run when you want. Doing something time sensitive? Well, bad luck. GC time!
Just a matter of time until you can’t chose what to watch on the lowest tier, you have to follow their playlist of what you should watch.
And we have come full circle back to broadcast TV
