Was bought out by dotdash a few years ago. Been on a steady decline ever since. The old content is still there, so it still works as a reference, but the new stuff is not of the same quality
Serious eats 😢 RIP
Do we have a r/rimjobsteve equivalent here?
The point should be to bring everyone up, not pull others down, though
This is true. Would probably be much easier technically and legally if they already own it, though.
That’s interesting. So they buy the domain on your behalf and then rent it out to you. Pretty cool concept
That said, I’ve owned a fair few domains and never had to deal with 3rd parties, so I’m not sure if the added security risk (however small) of them hijacking your domain is worth it. For me, at least. YMMV
What makes a registrar more privacy focused than another. Just had a read of their website, but couldn’t understand why they’re better for privacy than any other
Down votes is the price you pay for trying to be informative
If there’s a heaven, this is what it’s like
Are there any of these communities you could recommend?
Sounds like robusta…
If it is, there’s nothing you can do about the burnt rubber flavour. That’s a feature of the type of coffee
This was a well written and interesting piece from someone who knows about the subject matter. What a refreshing piece of content. Thank you for sharing
I’m the opposite. Grew up in a cold climate and hated it. Moved to the warmth now and loving life at the moment
You can just use ports as if you’re on a local network.
This is the bit I find confusing. Doesn’t Plex need that port to be open to the outside world?
Or is your setup only open to devices on your private tailscale network and therefore seeing it as local?
If that’s the case, I’ll need to see if tailscale can work with osmc, since that’s what I have running on my raspi behind my tv
Is there? What’s this book called… so that I know to avoid it
Tailscale is another one I’ve heard of but haven’t looked much into it.
This article put me off a bit. Seems like an unnecessarily complicated setup https://www.jjpdev.com/posts/plex-media-server-tailscale/
That racknerd price for a vps sounds too good to be true!
Is anyone using this? It looks great, but that disclaimer everywhere saying you shouldn’t use it concerns me.
If you use it, what is your experience?
Do you mean something link
subdomain.domain.tld
? Because I have that set up with namecheap
