I kind of wonder if we’ll see more interest focused instances continue to be a relatively regular occurances. I could see communities around specific games deciding to make a new home for themselves if for no other reason than everyone gets a new @myfavorite.game handle and you can customize a little more to their tastes. I think it might still lean more heavily towards generalized instances but maybe the main reason to run a new instance will be to be interest focused.

I feel like something odd is going on. Are you exploring much and capturing wild pokemon? I haven’t played the latest gen but Let’s Go, Shield, and Legends Arceus were all very difficult to not get over leveled in most of the time. I tend to spend a lot of time running around and trying to get at least one of every species that I come across. The team wide experience can really get you over leveled fast unless you are rotating mons on your team frequently.
What rediculous framing. He used freely available software, failed to attribute properly, and offered a very public apology. He did technically violate the lisence agreement by failing to attribute, but this is a common mistake and doesn’t appear to be done willfully. By fixing attribution he brings the project back into compliance. If moral issues come into play, lemmy has far more red on their ledger.
I think the thing that blows my mind about the pricing model is- AI using reddit for training data doesn’t need to up vote, downvote, subscribe, comment, or constantly ingest new data. They could ingest everything on Reddit once and be done, or come back every 6 to 12 months for an update. 3rd Party App developers need to download the same posts from the front page for every user, multiple times a day, constantly. They actually interact with a website. A $1 billion LLM ai might pay $1 million to download all the reddit data they need. Meanwhile Apollo might be worth less than $1 million as a business and is being hit with $20 million per year as operating expenses. The pricing model is set up in such a way that LLM’s are in a much better position to either pay a pretty insignificant fee to get all the data, or just build a scraper since they don’t need to support multiple users or website interaction. Meanwhile the price to app developers is impossibly high.
Don’t think this is exactly what you’re asking, but among actual old games, A Link to the Past and Super Metroid are both highly playable and highly replayable pixel graphics games.
They set daily read limits that were comically low. Read limits obviously don’t help with spam. They do help with scraping but it’s again so low, it seems like it would pretty much just disable scraping rather than control it. 600 tweets A DAY?
