Same. At this point I think he probably did it more to indulge those who wanted that to happen than actually wanting or caring about it.

Have you read the PR linked above? The submitter points out (when the maintainer starts getting defensive) that Zen has more social trackers whitelisted than Firefox (not even Librewolf). Which going only by that metric would put Zen as the least privacy-focused browser among the other forks, contradicting their own tagline.
and do you think there were repercussions before?
For X? Sure, that’s why they’re leaving in the first place - by not complying to the judge’s orders, they’d surely get slapped with fines and such. As a company, it makes sense to leave and avoid being accountable, but given the influence they (sadly) still have in the media, avoiding those repercussions and letting bad actors do their thing, they’re adding gasoline to the burning world.
The fact that Whatsapp is more popular in Brazil than X is beside the point.
But it isn’t. Now people get to spread misinformation to Brazilians with no repercussions.
I don’t actually care about the drama per se at this point either. I mentioned it because, along with the fact that:
All of this paints a bleak outlook for the long term health of this project, IMO. Which is too bad , because I still think it’s one of the better forks of chromium.
Well, Thorium developer stated he intends to support Mv2 past the 2025 deadline. Whether he’ll make it, we’ll see. It’s a one man show, there was some drama involving it in the past, and there’s the question of what’s the point in maintaining Mv2 extensions support if you won’t be able to install them from the store after they’re cut off?
Sorry to slightly derail the thread, but I’ll probably be on the market for a vertical mouse soon as well, which one do you use / recommend? I’ve been using Logitech mice for decades now, so I’ve naturally looked into their options and I’m not quite convinced on the ergonomics of the ones I’ve seen.
Ok OP, I’ve been seeing your posts here and they almost always seem to have an anti-west take on things. I try to read news from both sides of the aisle and make my own conclusions, so I’m genuinely curious: why do you think Ukraine should roll over and hand over their lands to Russia, or alternately, why is Russia justified in this war (that apparently they did provoke)?
Not really new. It’s basically LCD without backlight. So, higher resolution GBC / GBA alike screen.
Good. We think alike 👍
Yeah, and it’s not Mozilla either.
Which one do you think it is, then? Genuinely curious here. I don’t disagree with on most of what you said - I find the simping for Mozilla (and sneering towards chromium) here in Lemmy rather annoying. Mozilla and its browser both have shortcomings as well, and choosing a web browser these days is, as most things in life, choosing the lesser of evils vs. one’s own needs.
I did it all using this. Took me about half an hour to migrate all my 15-something accounts to KeepassXC.
What? Macos Sonoma is compatible with MacBooks from 2017. Hackintoshes are absolutely still possible on Intel, and from a cursory googling it appears they’re out there. Apple will eventually cut off support for Intel Macs on some future (major) release, sure, but there’s probably a few more years until that happens.
With that said, hackintoshes are a suboptimal solution to OPs problem. Ideally they should really move to other applications properly supported on multiple platforms.
Have you read past that screenshot of the code, though? It says the problem was not limited to Firefox, it seems Edge users reported problems as well. Anecdotally, I did experience that delay problem on Thorium this weekend as well. I have seen a variation of this problem almost a month ago, where sometimes the video would take a long time (like, over a minute, sometimes) to load, or often just not load at all. So I just chalked it up to Youtube having done something stupid on their end.
Actually, we just entered spring, on late September. And we did so in the midst of a heatwave that broke heat records for this year - we had days with 37C, which is high even for summer, and it won’t be summer here until December.
Yes, I’m scared af as well. My family is sort of ignoring my warnings and actually planning to move to the coast (Santos), which is even hotter.
Some guys here in the comments said about migrating to the north, and that’s something that has been on my mind as well as a long term plan, although I find it unlikely I can move to North America in the short term, so I’m thinking more realistically maybe southern Argentina?
If Signal didn’t alienate a large number of users by removing SMS maybe switching would be more viable.
This. I hate Whatsapp, but I have to use it because that’s what everybody else (where I live) uses, so either I cave, or be Incommunicable by everyone and get used to explaining why while sounding like a dork.
I used Signal because, although a very small set of friends used it, I had an excuse to keep it because it handled SMS, and so I could keep it in the hopes that eventually WA would shoot itself in the foot and people would finally migrate, but since they removed SMS, why the hell would I hold on to it if I’d have no reason to other that I like it?
Hold on, is that for real? Like, for Unity games developed years (maybe over a decade) ago, developers would need to start to pony up if they’re installed now? I thought that pay by install thing was just for licensing contracts from now on (not that this isn’t bullshit too, but at least people could just move on to another engine).
I don’t think this qualifies. That moment you’re referring to is more a “breaking the 4th wall” situation for a sort of comic effect, which is a staple on most of the entries on the series, not an actual reversal of a failure state. Something similar happens on MGS1 on the fight with Psycho Mantis, for example.
Until The Expanse she was more known as a dancer / singer, although even then she wasn’t super famous.
You’re being obtuse. The nuance here is that Bill Gates being.a bad person and his charity org having done some good in the world are facts that are not necessarily dependent or correlated with each other. That’s all. The fact that Gates might be using his org to prop his image is also a consequence of his character, and doesn’t take away from the good the charity has done. Or would you rather the charity didn’t exist at all just so your thirst for consistency would be appeased, all the while people would be dying?
