You can get similar conditions for a fairly similar price right now. Current monthly rent of 2 bedroom apt in regional slav city (1m population) is about €200. Any .ml users wanna move in? USSR ideation is very very welcome

I think the main reason behind the situation is simply dependence on export of raw materials (fossil fuel/metal ore) that doesn’t require many skilled people.
Only when margins of raw materials extraction will be squeezed out, the leadership would be incentivized to change.
The way out is either abundance of supply(raw materials) or reduction of demand (transition to more advanced substitute i.e renewables)

If kids don’t plan to work at the mainland, chances are they will never speak at the level and environment where it’s good use of everyone’s time.
Meanwhile, Chinese would rather you speak English. They probably know English better than clueless foreigner knows their language mindset.
