The euphemistically named ‘Hague invasion law’ actually only promises to take any action necessary to avoid being held responsible. In real terms though, any military action against Hague will deeply polarize the world and destroy the current world order where the US enjoys some dominance and influence. I get how hard it is to cut down on airline emissions. But the strict requirements on budget has significantly improved that number over the past few decades. Aircraft engines today are much less polluting than they were 30 or 50 years ago. Perhaps the goals shouldn’t be dropped so easily.
What scares me about this is how lightly climate change is taken. “Yeah, I don’t think we can do it. So we’re going to just stop trying”. Do you even realize what sort of trouble the humanity and this planet is in? Especially for a country dominated by its coastline?
