I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption (the first one) and I’m enjoying it a lot. I’ve decided to play without the on-screen map and it does wonders for immersion, recognizing areas, locations, where people are, etc. I highly recommend it!

You read a book in two hours?
Ploum makes a very interesting point on his blog: https://ploum.net/2023-06-23-how-to-kill-decentralised-networks.html
They talk about examples like Google Chat being XMPP, becoming very big, changing the standards that look like other XMPP users/clients are subpar and then killing “federation” but no one complains because everyone uses their product, so it’s not a big disruption.
While I don’t think this is it, because Facebook is huge and ActivityPub isn’t (XMPP was the most used protocol then), this happened and can’t be ignored.
This happened to me with Jerboa, but it’s a bug. Open your instance on the browser and click Subscribed to make sure it’s working. They should show the same posts
Unlike the Vulcans, who helped human progress!
I love how they used the console’s limitation to improve the game!
In all fairness, it probably did take less time to load messages on BBSs than it takes to update Fortnite :)
Well I’m not a huge gamer, specially since I have a kid, but I was expecting GTA with horses, but I’m enjoying it a lot (I don’t really like GTA) anh I had not played this game, since I never had a console, but it came out for switch and I went for it. I’m not going to try to sell it to you. The no-map immersion is a big factor, I guess, which is new for me!
