For example, I tried to recreate the Powerlifting community here and it’s completely dead lol. It’s just me posting a couple times per week hoping someone else joins me. There are around 50 subscribers but they only upvote my posts.
Mid-30s guy who lives near Denver. I compete in powerlifting and am into ham radio and reading.

Yes. I think it’s because I’m a monthly supporter though. It seems to have a big psychological effect in that I want my money’s worth, and I want Lemmy to succeed. So I comment and post quite a bit to help keep communities active.
I thought I replied earlier. I believe it’s a NUCi7bnh.
I believe I have a NUC7i7bnh. It’s perfect for Plex and quick sync is great on it. I run
Plex
Radarr
Sonarr
NZBGet
And it never chokes.
I just got a used NUC and it works well and takes up little space.
I use Ivory on iOS. It’s not free but I love it. It’s basically a port of Tweetbot. Then there’s Mammoth, which is free and great. I believe there’s an official app as well, but I haven’t tried it.
Mastodon.social is the largest instance, but it’s similar to Lemmy in that it’s federated. It also uses ActivityPub.
Today is a good day to join because it’s #FollowFriday. You can search that hashtag and find a lot of people to follow.
Try it out! It has taken off pretty well. Lots of big names from Twitter have moved over.
“Toot” to Americans is another word for fart. I believe they use toot because it fits in with the Mastodon animal theme. Which makes sense. But when the whole twitter migration started, it was off-putting to a lot of people.
Yes, which is unfortunate is you’re American.
I have the latest, but that never appeared. I tooted at Christian on Mastodon about it. We’ll see if he responds.
I still haven’t seen this option appear anywhere.
This was the final nail for me. I’m moving over to Lemmy full time and will be nuking my reddit account soon.
Anyone know what the best way to delete all reddit comments and posts is?
Yeah I was on Kbin but got tired of the UI. Plus there are no apps for it.
