I find it a tad amusing that this news about Facebook’s latest attempt at fucking over the Fediverse is where I hear about the pixelfed project for the first time.

The right is willing to resort to credible threats of violence to achieve their selfish ends, even if it results in the destruction of all life on Earth.

Meanwhile, otherwise decent people on the political left are too cowardly and comfortable to take the measures that are necessary to protect our world.

I’d argue that it makes plenty of sense when you see it through the lens of terrible people profiting from human misery wanting to hold onto those profits: letting prisoners learn useful skills leads to lower recidivism which means fewer dollars going to the prison industry in the future. Meanwhile more racist books in the library means less hassle to prison guards when the prisoners turn on each other, boosting gangs that alighn on racial lines, instead of pushing back on the assholes actually making their lives worse.

Can’t we just put all the billionaires in a cage, like rats in a bucket ala that scene in Skyfall, and just oops accidentally forget to release them? Or I dunno, just spitballing ideas here, some kind of sealed carbon fiber tube at the bottom of the Atlantic?

Sure is disgusting how people who already have more money than God are willing to destroy our country, literally, just for the relative equivalent of a stray penny you or I might find on a sidewalk.

Maybe they should start with looking into why so many literal traitors to our country, like Ashley Babbitt, are being produced by our military.

The fact that we even had 120 years worth of fellating the memory of traitors like traitor Braxton Bragg by naming our military installations after them is fairly damning.

The good old days when VCs could thrive by adopting a “spray and pray” investment strategy and counting on a surging market to lift all valuations are over — even when it comes to AI.
