“we can train AIs on AI-generated content”
and 20yrs from now polydactylism will be the new human beauty standard
I think more likely answer is that most businesses are cheap and a mediocre image generated by AI is good enough vs paying a human to make a really good one.
Also, water causes wetness.
The Future is a Dead Mall
Before I quit Reddit (when Bacon Reader died) I had already curtailed my commenting because of this. It seemed that any time I tried to make a thoughtful comment on a even slightly contentions subject I ended up in a pointless argument with someone who had poor reading comprehension. It was disheartening to realize that while I was agonizing over every word I put into my comment in an attempt to clearly explain my thought, the same courtesy would not be extended by the people mis-reading it. I started to think people were just scanning comments for keywords to get angry about then telling me that I was ignorant of a subject I knew a great deal about or a reactionary child when I am 50 IRL. Commenting became a burden and it lead to a decline in the quality of conversation as more and more thoughtful commenters found that burden too great.
There were several attempts to chain CDs to caddys, kind of like Laser Disc none stuck.
There were also Zip (250MB) and Jazz (1GB) Drives that were pretty amazing for their day. Unfortunately media was expensive. Jazz was pretty great for backups though.
The scope of the Civilization games is a bit too fast and broad to get down to the “This War of Mine” level.
i want to laugh and cry at the same time…
It is one of Reagan’s most famous (and lucid) statements. The connection is fairly obvious to anyone familiar with the history.
Used one of these for many years, it was great. Only complaint is that the arm rest is kind uncomfortable it you lean on it a lot like I do.
For any chair that you want to roll upgrade the crappy plastic wheels with some nice rubber ones. The kind that look like inline skate wheels.

Gumball machines solved this 100 years ago.
Part of the Star Wars Trek, not the Star Trek Wars.
I worked IT for a machine shop a while back and one of the giant machines had a sign posted next to it :
“This machine has no brains, so use yours”
And multiple people are disagreeing so that claim means nothing. The real issue is that your top level comment reads like it was written in the 1990s when entering the wrong monitor refresh settings could set it on fire. Other parts dont make any sense :
“If that’s the state of Linux where my 8-year-old Windows 10 machine still gets updates regularly and runs fine.”
Your next sentence :
"“Go ahead, hope you read all the patch notes for the 1000s different updates you are about to get!”
Is clear hyperbole. If you run a modern desktop focused distro like Mint then you click upgrade and let it do its business. Or dont, you dont have to.
I get it, you had some bad experience with linux and were frustrated by some driver issues that were a PITA to remedy so you gave up. Totally valid, but not a failing of linux as a whole. Windows comes pre-installed so you do not have to deal with all those driver issues because someone else already did that work before you ever press the on button.
