Thanks, that’s really interesting. I guess black laces were the only safe option!
Thank you for being less lazy than me! Still though, white laces are pretty common. I wouldn’t want to be mistaken for a white supremacist just because of that.
Could you expand on the laces thing? I’ve never heard of laces (white, yellow or anything else) signifying anything in this topic.
I’ve only ever heard one of those songs, but I like it (Bang and Blame)!
Yeah, same here. I don’t disbelieve those who love it, but I just couldn’t get into it because it felt so unintuitive.
Not stuck exactly, more slightly overwhelmed, by Skyrim - never played it before, but it was cheap on Steam recently and day one I played for about 5 or 6 hours… and I’ve never yet gone back because there’s already so much to do. I will go back eventually though.
This is what I was going to say. It’s so weird, I love it.
Which view is that? I can see spaces with some views and vote counts with others.
Small Cards - no vote count Cards - no vote count Slides - vote count is there
Normally I use Smaller Cards, so I don’t see a vote count anytime until I open a post.
It’s not like Christmas or New Years which are reliably 12/25 and 1/1.
You say that, but then there’s Venezuela.
When a headline or thread starts with “Why…” you can often reply to it simply by repeating the question without the first word and emphasising the new first word, eg:
Is Lemmy not a place for thoughts and observations, rather than just links, questions, and memes?
I’m not sure that’s true as a starting point. So not point trying to answer “why” it might be the case.
Partly it’s aesthetic - it takes up so much room!
Partly it’s preferential - I’m not keen on machine generated answers being prioritised over actual sources.
Mainly though it’s because when I do a search, I usually know what website I expect/want to get to, and just want that available to click immediately.
Oh ok, thanks. Didn’t realise that, will need to read up on it.
What’s the mystery with this one? It’s a very interesting event, but isn’t it generally pretty well understood?
True. But you could adopt.
Another vote for ants, although that’s partly because I’m a fan of the film Phase IV in which all ant species suddenly start cooperating with each other against humans.
Depends how literal you want to be.
In the loose sense of, “Someone is trying to make a phone call to me and my device has registered that fact and is now alerting me in some way, whether through sound, light or movement” yes I’d still just say it’s “ringing”.
In addition to other reasons given, I see their web interfaces as recruitment methods.
People who don’t have the app can still click links which bring them to the FB/IG/Tw websites - and then that could be enough to get them interested enough to then go on and install the full app especially when they find out how restricted the websites are.
