Somewhat related, I’m so annoyed that my USB 3.0 SATA adapter doesn’t pass S.M.A.R.T. data. Didn’t even think to check for such a deficiency. Just another thing to watch out for when buying these adapters.

Look up the instructions for your mail provider to set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records in your DNS so email services know which emails sent from your domain are actually legit. Without those records telling email servers what’s valid and how to handle what’s not, it’s basically the Spiderman pointing at Spiderman meme.
I just use Firefox Sync. Works on all those platforms.
“What’s a checkbox? Oh, you mean that thing we use to trick users into ‘consenting’ to telemetry?”
Yea, I didn’t like that they are going to drop support in the next version or whatever. Not sure if it’s their intended replacement, but Wireguard is installed by default in TrueNAS Bluefin. I recently switched to that, and I find the performance is way better than OpenVPN.
What are you using to monitor wireguard?
Maybe they already replaced their Writers, Authors, and Proofreaders, and generated the whole thing using ChatGPT.
Well crap. I was waiting until the end of the day to buy it. That’s too bad…
Edit: I guess that information was in the image, but would have been nice if it was in the post text too…
Not all software developers follow those guidelines - either out of laziness or incompetence. Plenty of sites/companies have had password leaks due to improper storage. The best way to protect yourself is to use unique passwords for all accounts.
So, simply viewing a comment thread with a maliciously-altered emoji (on an unpatched instance) was enough to compromise your account?
Hello, I commented about a bug in the instance selector on a cross post, not realizing that wasn’t the actual developer. Not sure if it’s related to what you’re talking about here, but I wanted to bring it to your attention. Great project by the way!
For a second, I seriously thought the fediverse logo next your username was an award 😂
WTF, the activity button is also on comments. So you can literally see a full list of users who upvoted or downvoted you.
I’m guessing it was done for transparency, but it just seems ripe for abuse. People can take things like downvotes way too seriously. I’ve seen unhinged users on Reddit go harassing a commenter who disagreed with them.
I do not like this “feature”.
Simplest solution is often the best. To add to this, Thunderbird has what are called Local folders. If you have your other email accounts added, you can simply drag and drop everything into the Local folder to move them off the cloud and into local storage. No email server required. Definitely a good idea to take backups if storing important stuff locally though.
From some comments I’ve read, it’s at least in better shape than kbin? A few people expressed interest in helping with that project and then went running for the hills after reading through the code.
Alkaline batteries are the crappy ones that leak. Get the more expensive lithium batteries, or go full on rechargeable ones, and you can leave them in without worrying about your device getting ruined.
