FIFA President Gianni Infantino says women should “pick the right battles” to “convince us, men, what we have to do” over equality issues in soccer.

You have to be a certain sort to run a sports league racket. You’ve gotta enable not your own corruption but the corruption of the national leagues under you.

I don’t know why I even clicked on this thread. I have no interest in reading about this guy. Everything I’ve heard about him indicates he’s an asshole, and the quote in the headline only serves as more evidence.

It’s 2023, for fuck’s sake. Women shouldn’t have to take any extra steps to be treated as equals, especially if it involves meeting this prick’s standards.

What a fucking piece of shit.

Very apt that he’s named “Infantino” because this (amongst other things) proves he thinks like a fucking infant.

It’s hard to stop patronizing women when you’ve been patronizing women your whole life.

Hey dickhole, educate your damn self. What the fuck are you president of anything for if you can’t even lead yourself to a fresh thought?

If you can’t do it, which you seem to be admitting here, and you need a woman to lead you to the correct way of thinking, step down and let a woman do the leading from the office of FIFA President. Maybe if you ask nicely and show a willingness to learn, she’ll hire you as a secretary or something, but only if you remember to smile.

So you’re saying that if he changes anything, he will personally lose out. He rose to the top of the previous system, there’s not a lot of motivation to mess with that.

I’m saying that if he wants to be a leader he needs to do the work to lead. There was a series of thoughts in the comment above. You’re only replying to part of the comment, but the rest of the comment was important too.

The salient piece of info I got from the article is that players of Women’s soccer currently get 1/4 of the pay that players of men’s soccer get.

How is this inequality? The more valuable players get more oay since they bring more revenue. Sex has nothing to do with it. Its not supposed to be a charity. I think it is fair that payment correlates with ones value regardless of sex or any other attribute. Is it not like that at the moment?
