Hello lemmy, I dropped a monitor and it hit the corner of the furniture. Luckily furniture survived with minor injuries.

Monitor is 24" 1080p used as 2nd screen in office (Dell P2417H)

Is this trash?

Edit: monitor hit hard from decent height. Im surprised there is no damage on case or plastic LCD cover (not sure is it called like that, I mean the glass like thing that protects the screen)

It’s junk. You might be able to find a replacement screen for it, but I doubt it’d be worth your time and effort on top of the cost, if you’re even able to find a replacement.

Thx, thats what I expected. I might get the same one, its amazing build quality, especially the pivot stand. I feel so stupid for not being careful

I did this too a couple of months back. I felt so stupid since it was avoidable. Don’t know how it works where you live, but I was able to use my home insurance to get back like 80% of the purchase price, which made replacing it less painful.

Man, check how much it would cost, it’s usually so cheap that it’s not worth taking a chance that your place burns down and you’re left with nothing because your didn’t want to spend 20$/month on insurance!

Thank you for being considerate. I have insurance against fire and some other stuff, but didnt pay extra to cover all items I have. I will check again, but afaik normal policies dont cover damage that I caused myself

Step 1: Post on Facebook Marketplace with title of “FS: Lightly used. $300. No low offers. I know what I have”

    Step 2: …

    Step 3: Profit

Depends on how good are you at repairing things and your luck with sourcing a new display panel.

If you think that you are capable of replacing the display, google the model and there should be websites that should give you the model of the display panel. When you got that, try finding a place where you can get one, probably on AliExpress or some other Chinese website.

If you managed to find a panel for a decent price and you think that it’s worth it to repair the thing, instead of just buying a new monitor, go for it.
