A clarinet player was arrested after playing her instrument to the tune of the “Ghostbusters” theme song outside of a Portland ICE facility, which has recently become a site of daily clashes between federal agents and demonstrators.
This is lawlessness. No procedure, no rules, no guidelines, no restraint, no empathy, no accountability. Their violence will only escalate. America, you need to start standing up to this administration. No more sitting on the sidelines of politics. The footsteps are heading your way now.
Since the 80’s USA has been a society mostly driven by sociopathy, with Republican policies being decidedly and uncompromising sociopathic. So it’s not surprising that there are a lot of sociopaths in USA, who are willing to disregard all decency and all norms to trample on those they consider to be below them or against them.
I just read an article stating that Americans are lining up for a job with ICE, and they consider it an “adventure”!!!
Absolutely zero empathy. That’s what largely unregulated capitalism and a culture that exalts greed about all else will do to a people. We have literally brainwashed our entire populace into being sociopaths because it made a profit. And we are surprised that there were consequences.
“It’s just business.”
A small statement used to wipe away any atrocity they can imagine. And people think this is somehow right and good.
Capitalism creates sociopaths by creating incentives to be that type of person, you’re so right.
No clarinet, either
I play a mean Recorder I’m about to give my local ICE facility a spirited solo attempt at the star spangled banner.
I have not played a instrument since 5th grade.
I bet “Ice Ice Baby” would be sufficiently annoying on a recorder to prove a point.
Don’t put them Under Pressure to do that.
🎵 do do do doodoo do do 🎵
Word to your mother!
🎼 🎶 sad trombone 🎶

I’d like to point out that putting that into practice is probably much less effort and drama than people might imagine. Most likely somebody already started organizing in one way or another, so you just need to join. And most strategies probably won’t involve taking up arms or throwing yourselves against the walls of the palace in large numbers.
Too late.
They won’t.
And if you suggest they should, they’ll get defensive and belligerent. They’re clowns.
“but the drive is tooooooo long” the drive where? it’s the common excuse that it takes too long to travel…where ever. such a piss poor excuse.
I’d have more respect for Americans if they were just honest and straight up said “I don’t care” instead of “we’re waiting for a leader” or “we waiting to get organized” or “the drive to insert city name is too long” or “I have a job”. Just say you don’t care and then the rest of the world can finish applying the Nazi sticker to your country.
Arrested for, and while doing, nothing illegal.
Just remember, if one person has no rights, we all have no rights.
First they came for the woodwinds, and I said nothing because I play in strings.
Edit: It’s a silly joke, but I do think instruments in an orchestra is a good metaphor for the importance of diversity to society.
Lmao I commented something similar before I saw this, way better than what I wrote
The USA got some very special freedom, but at least their guns will protect them from overreaching state actors.
Arresting musicians is very Taliban
Taliban: At least we have some ideology so you actually know what to expect.
what’s cooler than being cool?
ghost busters on clarinet.
what’s ice cold?
Arresting the clarinetist.
She was probably playing it menacingly /s
Opposite. Happy bouncy tune while immigrant detention drama unfolds. Emasculating to those goons.
They probably felt threatened. Those poor little souls. Attacked with a tactical assault instrument.
Nazis hate Ghostbusters.
First they take the clarinetist. Then when they run out of those, it’s the brass instrumentalists.
And I said nothing because I played the timpani. By the time they made it all the way back to me there was no-one left to help me anymore.
That’s how you got stuck with timpani in the first place.
If you don’t side with the Constitution, no one knows where the hell you are.
Clarinets have reeds and they can be sharp enough to cut someone up in a heated frenzy. Be careful out there ICE! /s
I could understand if it was a bagpipe player but the licorice stick?
