My credit card provides a service where I can get unlimited virtual numbers which I can lock or delete at any time. It also lets me schedule a lock date ahead of time, so I can go in immediately after signing up for a trial and lock the card (if the trial didn’t do a $1 pre-approval charge) or schedule it to lock a day or two before the free trial ends (to give the system time to refund the $1 pre-approval charge if that was used). Basically, set it and forget it. So far it’s worked flawlessly for years.

Kind of annoying that I have to jump through those kinds of hoops. And also annoying that they still get access to my personal information and stuff. Granted, the nice thing about the virtual numbers is that I’ve found I can provide any name and any zip code and the numbers/charges still get approved, so I don’t even have to provide accurate information there.

Same concept as InvalidName2 but check out privacy.com. One time use cards, monthly limit, per charge limit etc. Legit Free as long as you don’t use like 20 cards numbers at once.

I’ve used a test number and it’s worked on a occasion or two. Card makers have card numbers that “validate” but obviously don’t go through for payment, for testing POS without actually running a real card.
