Zwarte Piet has nothing to do with Christmas, it’s part of Sinterklaas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Nicholas). While Santa Clause was based off this character, its an entirely different festivity.

This has been simmering for like 30 years it was just easy to ignore because US politics is like a spectator sport to feel good about your own country. Should be no surprise that white and/or Christian nationalism wouldn’t look much different in Europe
Same as it ever was. Maybe the not so silly members of their society can have some sort of moral code and understanding of the world that allows them to live in it without being eternally fearful racists but, without some basic shared belief in humanistic and prosocial moral truths, Western society will remain largely the same (morons/laypeople are always a majority, their shortcomings come out in different ways depending on the society).
