My 13yo account got permabanned for “ban evasion”. I do have - or rather, had - a spare account, but I’ve never interacted with the same subs, and haven’t used that account in a while.
The only thing I can think of as to why this happened is that I called out a tankie sub that pretended to not be tankie, and the mods were obviously upset that their thinly veiled Putin dick-sucking was so publicly revealed. Few hours later, ban. Appealed, appeal denied without explanation.
I have come across a bunch of long-term reddit users - over a decade at least - say similar things. Not many newer users. Definitely some sort of weeding going on.
Eh, I found old.lemmy.zip and haven’t skipped a beat. I like that there is no cumulative post totals. Cuts out the karma farming entirely and keeps the focus on conversation, which is nice.
I do miss the wide audience of Reddit tho. The lack of polished interfaces for the Fediverse are a real blocker for most normie users, which is something I’m actually working on (yet another fediverse app, yes)

Fucking disgrace what happened over there.
