Having a little anxiety here because this is by far the best app. I purchased a lifetime Ultra membership and it wasn’t until I replaced my phone and couldn’t restore it, did I find out the developer hasn’t updated or posted in 2 years. (Somehow the Ultra got restored a couple days later).
I really hope the dev continued this, or issues a statement regarding the status. I also would pay for a version for Reddit (yeah I know, I just can’t quit that completely yet)
Edit: thanks for the responses. So far, Voyager seems to be the closest to Sync and best alternative for me. Really sucks the dev just abandon this.
For those looking for an alternative, I switched to Voyager after it became clear Sync was abandoned. It feels similar enough to me.
I’m on Voyager, really happily with it

Not sure why this person is getting downvoted. I like many others paid for a lifetime membership. Dev supported the app for few months then ghosted. No explanation or update has been given. Totally abandoned at this point.
Anybody who has used sync for a long time (nearly a decade here) has seen that the dev tends to work in spurts. Silence for a long time then bam giant update and a few months of activity then mostly silence again.
I and many others probably hope we’ll see it again lol
He’s been sus since he launched Sync Ultra.
It’s been dead for a while, I jumped ship to Summit. Pretty similar vibe, works well and I’m happy.
As others have said, it isn’t dead, but don’t expect any future support or updates.
How do you define dead if not by “no future updates”?
No future updates and no longer works
Good point. It could stop working if api calls change.
Lack of core function, and no sign of future updates in this case.
I’d also apply the term to other situations, such as a github page being taken down without any word from development about it, or similar.
Or, if an app is otherwise functional, but can’t be installed/accessed via apk/app store (like the keyboard app swype that works fine, but you have to jump through hoops to install on newer android versions and is no longer listed in any store)
I switch between Boost, Voyager and Summit. I think they’re all pretty decent and they all have support for Piefed as well, so that’s a nice bonus.
I’ve never used Sync but the screenshots on Google Play remind me of Blorp.
I still can’t find a client that works as well as sync on a tablet. Boost and summit have tablet modes, but sync lets you open several posts in tabs, where boost and summit you can only open one at a time. (Also summits post feed is a little cramped in tablet mode and I can’t find a setting to make it a bit wider).
Connect has been my go to client. Works perfectly
I use Mlem personally.
